This week, Feed It Forward, the celebration of the gift of giving, returns for its fourth year.  Every day from now until Christmas Day, anyone can log on to the Feed It Forward site and give FREE $10 eGift Cards to up to 40 people each day.

Feed It Forward is one of the initiatives nearest to my heart.  There is a hidden emotional gem in giving to others and Feed It Forward is about celebrating the gift of giving. We’ve created this free gifting opportunity so that everyone can share in the holiday spirit and spread good cheer to the important people in their lives.

In 2008, noise about the down economy was inescapable. Large companies were imploding. Unemployment was on the rise.  The nation faced negative news day in and day out as the holiday season approached.

As adults, we can appreciate how tough it is to no longer receive a holiday gift from a family member or friend during a down economy.  What is much more difficult, though, is to have to cut your own holiday list short.  We grew tired of the negative news and longed to create a positive story in our community. It was out of this desire to create a cultural and psychological shift towards optimism and happiness that Feed it Forward was born.

We have all heard the saying that it is better to give than to receive, but we are not often asked why. The answer lives within us all.  It is the emotional spike we get from giving. Think about how giving makes you feel.  Think about how you feel when you see anyone, from a family member to a stranger, light up with joy as they receive a gift. has made it a mission for the past three holiday seasons to ensure that everyone gets to experience that feeling, regardless of their financial circumstances.

The community has enthusiastically embraced this social giving movement, gifting more than $32 million in dining experiences to loved ones and those who might not otherwise make their holiday lists through Feed It Forward.

Restaurants are the social centers of our communities.  We gather together with friends and family to join in good food and good company in restaurants across the country.  We are fortunate to have 10,000 restaurants participating the Feed it Forward program. Without them, none of this would be possible.

You have the opportunity to spread the gift of giving this season, and the people that you give gifts to will then have the opportunity to give to others.  Your actions will create a cycle of giving that will positively impact many lives.

There are no catches or gimmicks: it’s free to give and free to receive.  Give to friends. Give to family. Give to neighbors.  Give to working moms.  Give to families in the military. Most of all, cherish the feeling and enjoy the experience of giving.

Please feel free to share your thoughts with us as you give.  Your shared experiences have and will continue to inspire all of us at

Join us in the celebration of the gift of giving and begin Feeding It Forward now!

Happy Holidays!
