The holidays are a time for tradition, a time to gather around the table with your closest family and friends, to enjoy a meal that your mom prepares and serves once a year. It’s also a perfect time to indulge in the most flavorful desserts like sugar and peanut butter cookies and pecan and sweet potato pies (not to mention, cookies are Santa’s favorite)!

If you are looking for your holiday sugar fix this year, then you came to right place. These desserts have topped our menu (and will be sure to top yours, too!).

Sweet and Savory

Traditional Christmas cookies are wonderful but so predictable. Mix it up and try something similar to a savory oatmeal cookie that includes rolled oats, brown sugar, Parmesan cheese and sea salt just to name a few ingredients.  Heading out to brunch over the holidays? Keep an eye out for breakfast items like blackberry and brie scones.

Modern Take On A Classic

We’ve all heard the tried and true tale of the fruitcake, right? This famous Christmas cake has been renowned since the 15th century and has mixed reviews. But, don’t let that hold you back anymore with the modern takes on how it is now being served in restaurants. How does a double-layered, fruity, creamy and alcohol infused cake, or fruitcake cookies topped with icing sound?

Candy Inspiration

We are thankful for gourmet candy! Does more effort seem to go into making sweet treats this time of year? Mint delights, peanut butter perfections, crunchy and caramel gooey greatness, and fudge with a candy twist – you name it and you can probably find a dessert out there with it.

Holiday Abundance

It’s already been established that we all love a good sugar rush, especially during this festive time. However, there’s so many options to select from it can get overwhelming to pick one option. That’s why restaurants are taking the crème de la crème of holiday desserts and complimenting them together. These mash ups have resulted in your favorite delights being concocted, including Eggnog Creme Brulee, Oreo peppermint bark or dark chocolate and salted caramel mousse shooters.

Truffles Aplenty

Bite size, mini, and pop-in your mouth decadence help define truffles.  Chocolate covered, cream filled, chock-full of cake, spicy, candy covered, caramel centered, alcohol infused, sprinkled with nuts, dusted with cocoa, flavored with coffee, or dipped in candy cane bits. Can you believe all the options that are out there for truffles? This is one of our absolute winners due to the variety, options available, and the ability to try a handful without over doing it.

* Bonus Tip: Keep an eye out for local sourcing! The dessert menu is a great opportunity for restaurants in different regions to use fruits and produce that are plentiful locally during the current season. For example, look for cranberries – yum!
